Belgard Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Belgard fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full perimeter project, with most homeowners landing between $5,900 and $8,260 depending on linear footage, terrain, and whether we’re replacing an existing fence or starting fresh. We stock Belgard-compatible fence panels, posts, and hardware on our trucks, and we can usually have your install scheduled within the week. Most Los Angeles owners call us after a wind event off the 405 corridor or a hillside shift on their property has left posts leaning, panels cracked, or gate hardware that no longer closes square. You notice it first at the gate, then you start seeing daylight between panels where there shouldn’t be any.

Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard manufactures fence products across several lines that show up regularly in Los Angeles yards, including their modular retaining wall systems that integrate with fencing, their pre-cast concrete fence panels, and their coordinating pillar and cap systems. The Belgard fence systems we install most often in LA are their precast concrete panel fences, which come in standard 6-foot and 8-foot panel widths and sit on poured or pre-cast concrete footings. Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: Belgard fence panels are not universally interchangeable across their own product generations. A panel from their early 2010s production run may have a tongue-and-groove profile that doesn’t seat correctly into a post cast after about 2016. We measure the panel thickness, the groove profile, and the post slot depth before ordering anything. Aftermarket panels exist, and some are honestly fine, but we’ve seen enough dimensional drift in off-brand panels that we default to OEM Belgard product unless a homeowner specifically asks us to price an alternative. It saves everyon a callback.

Signs Your Belgard Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning more than 2 inches out of plumb. In Los Angeles this usually traces back to shallow footings or soil that’s been softened by irrigation runoff. A leaning post puts uneven load on the panel joints and eventually cracks them.
  • Cracks radiating from panel corners. Precast concrete panels are strong in compression but weak at their edges. When a post shifts, the panel corner takes the stress and you’ll see spider cracks within a season. Left alone, those panels fail entirely.
  • Gate that scrapes or won’t latch. Most Belgard fence gates in LA hang on post-mounted hinges. When the post moves even a quarter inch, the gate throws off. Forcing the latch bends the hardware and eventually snaps the hinge bolts.
  • Visible gaps between panels and posts. Belgard panels seat into vertical post channels. If you can see daylight through that channel, the panel has shifted or the post has warped. Water gets in, freeze-thaw cycles do their thing, and the panel edge spalls.
  • Efflorescence or white chalky residue that won’t stop. Some is normal on concrete, but persistent heavy efflorescence usually means water is moving through the fence in a way Belgard didn’t design for. In hillside LA neighborhoods, that often means drainage behind the fence has failed.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles and nearby areas, Belgard fence installation runs $4,130 to $10,620, and the spread comes down to footage, access, and what’s under the ground. A flat backyard in the Valley with easy access and 60 linear feet of fencing lands on the lower end. A hillside property in Silver Lake with retaining wall tie-ins, stair-step panels, and hand-carry access for everything lands on the high end. Every quote includes removal and haul-away of the old fence, concrete footings poured to Los Angeles code depth, the Belgard panels and posts, hardware, and site cleanup. You get a written price before any work starts, and every Belgard fence installation is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work isn’t right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you. DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: whether posts are visibly leaning, whether panel gaps have changed season to season, and whether your gate hardware is loose at the hinge bolts. That’s useful information when you call us. What you shouldn’t do is try to reset a precast concrete post by yourself. A single Belgard panel can weigh over 200 pounds, and a post with wet concrete around it can top 300. If a post shifts while you’re working it, you’re dealing with a crush injury before you can react. The same goes for cutting or trimming precast panels with a masonry saw without proper dust control. Silica dust from cutting concrete is a serious respiratory hazard. If the post is leaning, the fix is a professional reset with proper equipment. We’re at (213) 632-5711 if you want a set of eyes on it before it gets worse.
