Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If a section of your Techo-Bloc driveway has settled, a paver has cracked, or the edge restraint has let go, this page tells you what it costs to fix in Los Angeles and how we handle it. Most Techo-Bloc driveway and paver repairs run $826 – $2,125, while a full paver driveway installation in Los Angeles typically lands between $8,260 and $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and pattern complexity. We carry Techo-Bloc-compatible replacement pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and base materials on our trucks, so most repairs happen in a single visit.
How owners usually find the problem: a paver shifts under a car tire and makes that hollow clack, a low spot pools water after rain, or the sand between joints washes out and weeds start pushing through. Sometimes it’s a cracked paver from a delivery truck that swung too wide. Whatever the symptom, the fix starts with knowing exactly which Techo-Bloc product you have, because not every paver is interchangeable.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc makes several paver lines that show up on Los Angeles driveways and walkways, and the replacement part has to match the original series, not just the color. The most common lines we see in LA are Blu 60 (the smooth, modern paver with an 80mm thickness for driveways), Industria, Mista, Raffinato, and Victorien. The compatibility gotcha: a Blu 60 paver will not swap cleanly into a Raffinato field, even if the color name is similar. Techo-Bloc colors are batch-run, so a paver called “Shale Grey” made in 2018 and one made in 2024 can differ enough to matter when the sun hits them side by side.
To identify what you have, check the pallet tag if you kept it, look at the underside of a loose paver for molded markings, or measure the thickness. The 60mm pavers are pedestrian-rated; for a driveway that carries vehicle weight, you need 80mm or thicker. This is one of the most common failures we fix: someone installed 60mm pavers on a driveway, a few years of SUVs later, the surface is cracked and sinking. We match the series, the current batch color, and the correct thickness for the load.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Techo-Bloc does not license aftermarket copies of its shapes and finish blends. There are look-alike pavers from other manufacturers, but color, chamfer, and surface texture will not match what’s already in your yard. For a repair, we order direct from our Techo-Bloc distribution partner so the patch blends. For a full new installation, we also work with Belgard and Unilock products if you want to compare. Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles is an independent contractor, not a Techo-Bloc affiliate, which means we can be straight with you about what’s worth fixing versus replacing.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Paver is cracked or spalled (surface flaking). Usually the result of a paver rated for foot traffic only carrying vehicle weight, or a point load from something heavy. The fix is a paver swap; the long-term question is whether the whole base is adequate.
- Low spot collects standing water after rain. The base material under the pavers has settled or washed out, which in Los Angeles clay soil happens more often than people think after heavy winters. Water sitting on pavers accelerates joint sand loss and lets weeds in.
- Edge pavers are spreading or dropping at the driveway boundary. The edge restraint either was never installed or has failed. Without a solid edge, pavers walk outward under tire pressure and the field starts to lose its interlock.
- Sand between joints has washed out; weeds or ants are active. Without polymeric joint sand, the pavers can shift against each other, chipping the factory bevel edges. Top-dressing with the right sand is a quick fix if the base is still sound.
- A paver rocks or clacks when you step or drive on it. The base has voided underneath that specific area. The paver itself may be fine, but ignoring it lets the rocking paver transfer load to its neighbors and crack those too.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For spot repairs in Los Angeles, $826 – $2,125 typically covers opening the affected area, re-compacting the base, replacing the damaged pavers, re-sanding the joints, and re-setting the edge restraint. If the base has failed across a larger area, or the driveway is at the end of its life, a full paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs $8,260 – $21,240. The spread comes down to square footage, how much existing concrete or old base has to be hauled out, access for equipment in LA-size lots, and the complexity of the pattern you choose.
What we include on every job: a written price before work starts, no change orders slipping in at the end, and the work covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost to you. On larger paver driveway projects, we pull permits when the scope requires them and keep the site clean and fenced so your family and cars are back in place the same week.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check yourself. If a single paver is cracked, lift it with a flat pry bar and check whether the sand underneath is still firm and dry. If a low spot is smaller than a dinner plate and the pavers around it are tight, you can sometimes live with it through a season. Sand washing out between joints is a maintenance item you can top-dress with a bag of polymeric sand from a hardscape supplier, though matching the old sand color takes some patience.
What goes wrong with DIY: over-removing pavers without marking the pattern wastes hours, adding sand without compacting the base makes the low spot come back in six months, and using the wrong thickness paver on a driveway is a mistake you’ll redo. If the base has failed, it all has to come out and be re-compacted in lifts; that needs a plate compactor, class II road base, and someone who reads grades. Dry-laying a deco stripe on a patio is one thing; a driveway that carries two tons of car is another. FAQs

Techo-Bloc pavers are rated for decades of use, and with a properly compacted base, a paver driveway in Los Angeles should last 25 to 40 years before the base needs rehab. The pavers themselves rarely wear out; it’s the base, edge restraint, and joint sand that fail first. Call (213) 632-5711 if your driveway is showing age and you want a straight answer on what’s fixable.
Most Techo-Bloc driveways can be repaired by cutting out the affected area, re-compacting the base, and resetting the pavers, as long as the failure is localized. If more than about a third of the field has settled or cracked, replacement is usually cheaper per square foot than chasing one failing spot after another. We’ll give you a written price either way before any work starts.
A spot repair on a Techo-Bloc driveway is usually a one-day job for our crew. A full driveway removal and reinstall takes three to five working days in Los Angeles, depending on site access and whether we need to haul out old concrete.
We keep common Techo-Bloc replacement pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and base material on our trucks, and we order uncommon series and colors direct from the Techo-Bloc distribution partner before we schedule the repair. That means we match the product, not just the color family, before the crew arrives. Call (213) 632-5711 for a free estimate on your specific repair.
