Abodu Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Abodu driveway and paver replacement in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260 to $21,240 installed, depending on square footage, paver type, and whether your existing base needs rebuilding. We stock Abodu-compatible pavers and can usually complete a full driveway replacement within 3 to 5 working days. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a paver sinks into a soft spot after winter rain, a crack spreads across a high-traffic section, or the edge row starts pulling away from the curb. Abodu’s standard driveway packages use interlocking concrete pavers over a compacted base, and while the pavers themselves hold up well in Southern California’s sun, the base underneath is usually where failures begin.
We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor. We service Abodu driveways and paver systems, but we’re not affiliated with Abodu, and we don’t pretend otherwise. What we do is match compatible pavers, diagnose what’s actually failing underneath, and replace the surface or the base correctly so it stays flat for years, not months.
Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu’s accessory dwelling unit packages include a standard driveway and walkway spec, typically 10 to 16 feet wide depending on the lot, with interlocking concrete pavers in a running-bond or herringbone pattern. If your Abodu was installed through one of their Los Angeles-area programs, you likely have either their standard gray paver (a 4×8-inch Holland stone profile) or a larger 6×9-inch rectangular paver in a charcoal or tan blend.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners run into: Abodu’s spec has shifted between install years, and paver color lots are not consistent across manufacturing runs. A paver purchased in 2022 will not perfectly match the same “charcoal” purchased in 2025. If you’re patching a small section, we’ll pull from the closest current lot and blend it, but for anything larger than a 4-foot square area, a full top-layer replacement often looks better than a patchwork repair. We’ll tell you which one makes sense before we quote it.
We also service Abodu walkways and patio pavers that use the same interlocking system. If you’re not sure what you have, snap a photo of the paver surface and one of the edge profile, and we’ll identify it when you send it over. If you’d rather match with a premium upgrade instead of replicating the original, we work with Belgard, Unilock, and Techo-Bloc pavers in Los Angeles, which gives you access to better fade resistance and a wider color selection.

Signs Your Abodu Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking or low spots after rain. This is almost always a base failure, not a paver failure. Los Angeles soil has clay sections that expand and contract with moisture, and if the original aggregate base was laid too thin, the pavers shift. Patching the surface without rebuilding the base means it comes back next winter.
- Paver edges pulling away from the curb or walkway. Edge restraint failure. The plastic or aluminum edging that holds the perimeter in place snaps or lifts, and pavers start drifting outward. It’s one of the cheapest parts to fix and one of the most commonly ignored until the whole edge unravels.
- Cracking across multiple pavers in a line. A straight-line crack usually points to a sub-base joint or a utility trench settling underneath. It won’t fix itself, and sealcoating over it just hides the problem for a season.
- Fading and surface flaking. Los Angeles sun is hard on pavers. Cheaper concrete pavers lose their color within 5 to 7 years here and start getting a chalky, sanded-down surface. It’s cosmetic until it isn’t: flaked pavers absorb more water and break down faster.
- Weeds pushing through every seam. Some weed growth is normal in unsealed paver joints, but aggressive growth means the sand joints are gone and the pavers are no longer locking together. Left alone, they start shifting under vehicle weight.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Full Abodu driveway and paver replacement in Los Angeles runs $8,260 to $21,240 installed. That’s a wide range, and here’s what moves the number:
- Square footage. A single-car Abodu driveway is typically 300 to 500 square feet. A wider double-wide or extended drive pushes toward the top of the range.
- Base condition. If the original aggregate base is intact, we can lift and re-lay on top. If it’s failed, we excavate and rebuild. Excavation and haul-away add meaningfully to the bill, but skipping it means doing the job twice.
- Paver grade. Basic Holland stone pavers are the entry-level option. Upgrading to Belgard or Techo-Bloc products runs $4,130 to $12,980 for a typical Los Angeles driveway and gives you better fade resistance and load rating.
- Edge restraint and drainage. Replacing broken edge restraint and correcting any drainage slope is included in our quote. You won’t get a lower verbal estimate that grows later.
Every quote from Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles is written before we touch the site, and it stays that number. No verbal ballpark that balloons. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we installed fails within a year of completion, we return and fix it at no cost. That’s stated in plain writing on every project, and it means what it says.

You can safely inspect the obvious things: look for sinking spots, pulled-apart edges, and pavers that rock underfoot. Taking photos and sending them to us costs you nothing and gives us a head start on the quote. What we don’t recommend is digging out and re-laying a driveway yourself. Paver work looks simple, but a driveway needs a compacted base at the correct depth, a drainage slope, and an edge restraint system that holds under vehicle weight. If the base is wrong, the top layer can crack, sink, or separate within a year, and now you’ve spent a weekend and a pile of money on a problem you’ll pay us to redo anyway. The pavers themselves aren’t dangerous the way garage springs or electrical panels are, but moving hundreds of pounds of concrete in Los Angeles heat is a real way to hurt your back and waste a Saturday.
If the damage is one or two cracked pavers in an isolated spot, we can usually swap them same-day if you’re within our regular Los Angeles service area. Call (213) 632-5711 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you whether it’s a $150 patch job or a base rebuild before we ever schedule a visit. Written quote comes first, either way.
FAQs

A properly installed interlocking paver driveway lasts 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles, with the base making a bigger difference than the paver itself. The weak point is almost always the base or edge restraint, not the surface pavers. If your base was installed thin or over uncompacted soil, expect problems in 3 to 7 years. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll tell you what you’re actually working with before you spend anything.
Yes, if the damage is isolated and confined to a few pavers or a short edge run. Small repairs run in the $945 to $3,540 range for typical Los Angeles paver work. If the base has failed under a large area, patching the surface is throwing money away, and we’ll tell you that plainly. Call (213) 632-5711 and send photos first, and we’ll give you a straight answer on repair versus replacement.
A full Abodu driveway and paver replacement takes 3 to 5 working days in most Los Angeles cases, including demolition, base work, paver installation, and final compaction. Weather can add a day, since we won’t compact a saturated base. We’ll give you a written schedule with the quote so you can plan around it.
We stock Abodu-compatible paver profiles and colors on our trucks, and we source the rest from our Los Angeles supplier network within 24 to 48 hours. You never need to order materials yourself, and you’re never paying retail markup on something we pulled from a shelf. The paver cost in your quote is the paver cost, period.
