ActiveYards Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
ActiveYards fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 installed, depending on fence height, linear footage, gate configuration, and whether we’re replacing panels only or setting new posts. Most ActiveYards jobs in LA are done in one to two days once materials are on hand. You usually discover the problem the hard way: a gate drags against the concrete, a post leans after the Santa Anas, or a panel has worked loose from its bracket and rattles every time the gardener’s blower hits it. You’ve got a fence that’s half-failing, and you need to know whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
We’re an independent Los Angeles fence contractor. We install and service ActiveYards fencing, but we’re not affiliated with the manufacturer. That matters because we’ll tell you straight when a repair makes sense and when ActiveYards’ own warranty still applies.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards makes aluminum fence systems in three main lines: the Ascend (basic residential), Elevate (mid-range with rackable sections for sloped LA hillsides), and Premier (heavier-gauge pickets, wider rails). The dog-ear and flat-top styles both use the same post-and-bracket architecture, so the installation logic stays consistent across series. What changes is rail width (2″ on Ascend, 2.5″ on Elevate and Premier), picket gauge, and post wall thickness.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most LA homeowners hit: ActiveYards panels are punched for proprietary brackets that screw into the post. You can’t just grab generic brackets from a big-box store and expect the panel to sit flush. The screw holes won’t line up, the panel will wobble, and in a few months the wind off the 405 corridor will work the screws loose. If you’re matching an existing fence, measure the rail width to confirm the series before ordering panels. Mixing a Premier panel into an Ascend run looks fine from across the yard, but the rail profiles don’t match up close.
OEM versus aftermarket: for ActiveYards specifically, we recommend OEM panels and brackets when matching an existing installation. Aftermarket aluminum posts are fine structurally, and we use them for full replacements where the entire run is being re-done, but the money you save on discount panels usually shows up in powder-coat inconsistency within two or three summers of LA sun.

Signs Your ActiveYards Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning posts at the corners or gate hinges. This is the number one sign of undersized footings. ActiveYards posts should sit in concrete at least 24″ deep in LA’s sandy soil zones. A post that moves when you push on it means the footing failed, not the post.
- Sagging gate that scrapes the walkway. The hinge posts take all the weight. Over time, expansion and contraction from LA’s heat-cool cycles works the post out of plumb. The gate still closes, but it’s dragging, and eventually the latch stops lining up.
- Loose or rattling panels. The screws that hold the bracket to the post have backed out. Common in runs exposed to constant vibration from nearby traffic. Tightening helps short-term, but if the holes are wallowed out, you’ll need new posts or a bracket remount.
- White powder or pitting at the post base. Salt air near the coast, or irrigation spray hitting the fence line, accelerates aluminum corrosion. The powder coat fails first at the base, then the aluminum oxidizes underneath.
- Gate latch that won’t catch in cold weather. Aluminum contracts in the cooler months. A gate that latched fine in August might miss by a quarter inch in January. That’s a hinge adjustment, not a hardware replacement, but it’s a warning sign the gate was installed with marginal clearance.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a full ActiveYards fence installation runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a typical residential lot. A smaller run of 40 to 60 linear feet with one gate lands near the lower end of that range. A 100-plus-foot run with two or three gates, sloped terrain, or difficult access pushes toward the top. Repair work, like replacing a single failed post or re-hanging a gate, is often well under the full replacement figure, and we’ll price that separately with the same written quote discipline.
| Scope | Typical Installed Price in Los Angeles |
|---|---|
| Single post reset (concrete footing, post, re-hang panel) | $295 – $590 |
| Gate re-hang and hardware replacement | $340 – $825 |
| Partial fence replacement (10-20 linear feet, one panel section) | $1,180 – $2,360 |
| Full ActiveYards installation (standard 60-100 ft residential run) | $4,130 – $10,620 |
Every quote includes parts, concrete, hardware, removal of the old fence where applicable, and a written line-item price with no change orders. We’re also a partner for other home brands we regularly work with on LA remodels, including KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria, and Silestone surfaces, but fence work is quoted at material cost plus labor, same as everything else we do.
DIY or Call Us?
Aluminum fence installation doesn’t carry the same lethal risk as high-tension springs or live wiring, but a 40-pound panel in a 25 mph wind gust can knock you off a ladder. The concrete work is also unforgiving: posts set too shallow in LA’s sandy soils will lean within the first year, and digging through compacted caliche in parts of the Valley or the foothills will eat your weekend. What you can safely check yourself: whether a screw has backed out, whether the gate hinge bolts are tight, and whether the latch plate is still aligned. If the post itself moves, that’s a footing job. Call us at (213) 632-5711 and we’ll send someone who knows the difference between a ten-minute tune-up and a full reset.
FAQs

Twenty to thirty years is realistic in Los Angeles, but the powder coat will show UV fade within eight to twelve years on south-facing runs. Coastal properties near salt air should expect earlier oxidation at the post bases unless the fence is rinsed periodically.
A leaning post can usually be reset in a new concrete footing rather than replaced, as long as the post itself isn’t corroded through or bent. The post is pulled, the old footing broken out or over-bored, and new concrete is poured around the same post. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll tell you on the phone whether a reset or a new post is the right move.
Most residential ActiveYards installations in Los Angeles take one to two days. Material lead time is the bigger variable, typically one to two weeks from order to delivery depending on the panel series and color.
We carry common brackets, hinges, latches, and touch-up paint on the truck for repairs, and we order the panel and post sections directly for full installations. You don’t need to source anything yourself. We handle the order, the delivery, and the installation.
Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles has handled fence work across Los Angeles since 2004 under Isaac Pruett’s direction. Isaac grew up in the San Fernando Valley and learned construction the right way: watching family take houses apart and put them back together on Roscoe Boulevard, then formalizing that education at LA Trade-Tech. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s guaranteed – everything else is just noise.
