Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you own a home in Los Angeles with an Atlas-finished kitchen and something has failed – a cabinet hinge that’s pulled loose, a drawer slide that binds, a countertop seam that’s opened up – we stock and install Atlas-compatible replacement parts and finishes, with most kitchen part replacements priced between $945 and $2,950 installed in the LA market. Full cabinet refacing or replacement work on an Atlas kitchen runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope. Most owners discover a failed part the same way: a drawer that suddenly drags, a door that won’t stay closed, or a seam you can catch with a fingernail.
We’re Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles, and we’re an independent service provider – not affiliated with Atlas. What we are is a Los Angeles kitchen remodeling company that has worked on Atlas-finished kitchens across this city, so we know how these builds were put together, what fails first, and what it takes to make the fix look original.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas kitchens in Los Angeles fall into roughly three build categories, and the part you need depends on which one you have. The first is developer-grade Atlas cabinetry, common in condo conversions and tract homes built between 2005 and 2015 – these use 1/2-inch plywood boxes with soft-close Blum or Grass hinges, and the doors are usually shaker or slab profile in a handful of standard finishes. The second is Atlas semi-custom work, typically through their Premier line, which uses 3/4-inch boxes, dovetailed drawer construction, and a wider range of hinge hardware. The third is Atlas appliance and cabinet integration work – panels, fillers, and end caps sized to fit Wolf, Sub-Zero, or Thermador units.
The fastest way to identify what you have: open a drawer and look at the underside for a stamped code, usually a three-letter prefix followed by a date. On older Atlas cabinetry, the hinge is often branded Blum or Salice even though the box says Atlas, because Atlas sourced hardware from both. That matters, because a “genuine Atlas” hinge is often just a rebranded Blum 71B or Grass 860 – and the aftermarket equivalent costs 30-40% less while being functionally identical. We stock both OEM and proven aftermarket options on our trucks, and we’ll show you the difference before you pay for it.

Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer slides catch or bind halfway. The nylon bearings inside the slide have worn flat on one side, usually from years of overloading. Once they start catching, the slide is done – lubricating it buys you a month, not a fix.
- Cabinet doors won’t stay closed or close with a snap. The soft-close damper inside the hinge has lost its fluid. On Blum hinges this is a small replaceable cylinder; on older Grass hinges the whole hinge body needs swapping.
- Countertop seams open or discolor. Atlas kitchens in LA see big temperature swings between summer and winter, and quartz seams flex. A seam that’s lifted or darkened means the adhesive has failed and water is getting in – that’s a cut-and-reseal job, not a caulk bead over the top.
- Door finish delaminates at the edges. This is almost always moisture intrusion from steam, dishwasher venting, or a sink splash zone. Thermofoil doors delaminate permanently once the substrate swells; painted doors can sometimes be sanded and refinished.
- Hinge screws pull loose and the door sags. The screw holes in the cabinet box have stripped out, usually on the door you use most. The fix is a threaded insert or a redrilled plate, and it needs to be done before the sag twists the hinge and ruins the door alignment.

DIY or Call Us?
Honest answer: hinge and slide replacement on Atlas cabinets is doable if you’re handy and you have the right hardware matched, and we’ll happily sell you the part and tell you exactly what you’re looking at. Where DIY goes wrong is everything after the simple swap: stripped hinge plates that need drilling and plugging, countertop seams that require a routed channel and color-matched adhesive, and door realignment that affects how adjacent doors hang. If the part you’re replacing touches a countertop seam, a face frame, or an integrated appliance panel, call us. One wrong cut on an Atlas appliance panel and you’re buying a $600 replacement, not fixing a $40 hinge.
If you’re in Los Angeles and you want a second set of eyes or an honest price on the repair, call (213) 632-5711. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service call.
FAQs

In LA’s dry heat and coastal humidity swings, Atlas cabinet boxes typically last 20-30 years, but hinges and drawer slides last 8-15 years before the soft-close dampers and nylon bearings wear out. The cabinetry usually outlives the hardware – that’s the normal failure pattern. Call (213) 632-5711 for an exact assessment and pricing on your kitchen.
Hinges with worn dampers are replaceable inserts; drawer slides are not repairable and need swapping. Stripped screw holes can be repaired with threaded inserts in most cases. If it’s a slide, replacement is the only real fix, and it’s inexpensive. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll quote the part and install over the phone.
A hinge or slide swap takes under an hour. A countertop seam reseal takes 2-3 hours including cure time. A full cabinet reface runs 2-4 days depending on kitchen size. We’ll put the timeline in your written quote before any work starts, and you’ll know exactly who’s showing up and when.
We stock the most common Atlas-compatible hinges, slides, dampers, and seam adhesives on our Los Angeles service trucks, so most single-part failures are a one-visit fix. Less common hardware and finish-matched doors are ordered and typically arrive within 5-10 business days. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
