Cambridge Pavers Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Cambridge Pavers kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, and we stock Cambridge-compatible pavers and edge restraints on our trucks for most common layouts. If you’re looking at cracked pavers, sunken sections, or a paver kitchen floor that has shifted out of level, you’ve come to the right page. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover the problem the same way: a paver rocks underfoot near the sink, or water starts pooling in a low spot where the dishwasher drains.

What you need to know first: we’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not affiliated with Cambridge Pavers, but we work with their product line every week. Before anyone shows up at your door, you get their name, photo, and a written price for the full scope. Isaac Pruett runs our Los Angeles operation, and he’s been setting pavers since his days at LA Trade-Tech, back when his uncle was teaching him the trade on a Roscoe Boulevard job site in the Valley.

Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge makes a range of paving stones that end up in Los Angeles kitchens, most commonly their Ledgestone, RubbleStone, and PavingStone lines. Kitchen applications almost always use the 60mm paver (about 2 3/8 inches thick) because it handles the weight of appliances and foot traffic better than the 30mm paver meant for patios. Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: Cambridge color blends vary by production run, so a Mayfair Red paver from 2019 will not match a Mayfair Red paver from 2024 exactly. If your kitchen floor is a few years old and you need a section replaced, we order from the current run and blend the new pavers across the floor so the transition disappears.

Identifying your paver is straightforward: flip one up and check the underside for the Cambridge stamp and a color code. If the stamp has worn off, take a photo of the paver face in direct sunlight and we will match it from our supplier’s inventory in the Los Angeles area. For older installations where Cambridge has discontinued the color, we recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent with the same dimensional spec. The 60mm thickness is the non-negotiable; color is second.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Rocking or shifting pavers near the island or sink. This usually means the sand bedding underneath has washed out or compacted unevenly. In Los Angeles, the freeze-thaw cycle doesn’t cause it the way it does back east; it’s more often a slow leak from the dishwasher line or sink drain eroding the base.
  • Low spots where water pools after mopping. Water pooling on a paver kitchen floor means the subbase has settled. We see this most in older Los Angeles homes where the original floor was slab on grade and the pavers were laid directly over it without proper compaction.
  • Wide or growing gaps between pavers. Polymeric sand wears out. Once it’s gone, the pavers drift. Edge restraint failure lets the outer rows walk outward, and the gaps in the middle follow.
  • Cracked or chipped paver faces, especially near appliances. A dropped cast-iron pan will do it. But repeated cracking in the same area points to a void in the bedding layer. The paver flexes, cracks, and keeps cracking until the base is fixed.
  • Efflorescence, a white chalky film, or color fading. Efflorescence is common and mostly cosmetic; a good cleaning and sealing fixes it. Fading in direct Los Angeles sun exposure, especially through a south-facing kitchen window, is a sun-bleach issue that sealing slows but doesn’t stop.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

A full Cambridge Pavers kitchen floor replacement in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100. A partial repair, where we’re pulling up a failed section and replacing the bedding and a limited number of pavers, usually falls between $4,000 and $12,000 depending on the square footage and how much of the subbase needs rebuilding. The range comes down to three things: total floor area, whether the existing subbase is sound or needs removal and recompaction, and the specific Cambridge paver line and color you have.

Every job gets a written price before we start, with parts and labor broken out line by line. The pavers themselves are roughly $6 to $12 per square foot; the labor, bedding sand, compaction, polymeric joint sand, and edge restraint make up the rest. We don’t do verbal estimates that grow on the final bill. If we give you a number, that’s the number. The workmanship warranty runs 365 days from completion; if anything shifts or fails in that window, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a single cracked paver is a manageable DIY job: pry it up with a flat bar, reset it in fresh bedding sand, and tap it level. What homeowners in Los Angeles should not DIY is any repair where the base has failed. Once the bedding layer or subbase is compromised, you’re not fixing the paver; you’re rebuilding the floor. That means removing the affected area, recompacting the base, and re-laying the pavers in a bond pattern that ties into the existing field. Get the compaction wrong and you’ll be redoing the same section next year.

There’s no high-tension or electrical hazard here, but paver work is physical, dirty, and unforgiving on the back. If you’d rather not spend a weekend on your knees, call us at (213) 632-5711 and we’ll send someone out to look, give you a written price, and tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a replace.
