Delta Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Delta fence installation in Los Angeles runs $4,130 – $10,620 for a typical backyard replacement, and most jobs finish in two to four days once we’re on site. If you’ve got a Delta fence with a failing gate, sagging rails, or posts that have rotted at the base, you already know the drill: the panel is fine, but the hardware and posts have given up. We stock Delta-compatible fence parts on the truck, which means we can usually handle installation without a second trip across town.

What we see most often in Los Angeles isn’t a failed vinyl panel. It’s the connection points: the post caps that let water sit, the aluminum brackets that corrode in coastal air, and the bottom rails that hold moisture against the concrete. Delta builds a decent product, but any fence system lives or dies by how it was installed and how it handles our dry-hot, occasionally-drenched weather cycle. We’re an independent service provider; we’re not affiliated with Delta directly, but we’ve installed and repaired enough of their fence systems across LA to know exactly where they fail and what it takes to fix them right.

Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta’s fence lineup spans vinyl, aluminum, and a handful of composite lines, and the first thing we do is identify which system you actually have. The gotcha: Delta changed post dimensions on some vinyl series around 2018, which means a post from the “Classic” line won’t always accept a rail from the “Pro” line sold two years later. If you’re holding a gate in one hand and a rail end in the other wondering why they won’t mate, that’s usually the answer.

Look for the manufacturer’s mark molded into the inside of the top rail or on the base of the post. It’ll show a series name and sometimes a part number you can read off to us over the phone. For aluminum fences, check the picket spacing: some Delta aluminum lines use 4-inch spacing and some use 5-inch, and swapping panels across those specs looks close enough to fool you until the top rail doesn’t seat. We quote OEM Delta parts when the job calls for exact matching, but we also carry aftermarket equivalents that meet or exceed the original’s UV and impact specs, and we’ll tell you plainly which one makes sense for your situation.

Signs Your Delta Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate sagging or dragging on the latch side. The hinge has usually pulled loose from a rotted or stripped post interior, or the gate frame itself has twisted. In Los Angeles, a gate that scrapes the ground in the morning but swings free in the afternoon is often wood-core post swelling rather than anything you did wrong.
  • Posts leaning at the base. Water finds the gap where the post meets concrete, sits there, and breaks down the post core. We see this on older Delta vinyl installations throughout the San Fernando Valley where irrigation spray hits the same post twice a day for years.
  • Rails popping out of the post channels. Delta vinyl fencing uses a tab-and-slot system. When the tabs snap, the rail can’t hold. This is a $40 part on a $150-an-hour fence, and it’s a classic weekend fix gone wrong because the replacement tab never seats exactly like the molded original.
  • Vinyl turning chalky or yellowing on the sun side. Los Angeles UV exposure is brutal on lower-grade Delta lines. The color fades first, then the surface gets brittle enough that a hard hit from a trash bin at the wrong angle cracks the panel.
  • Aluminum pickets rattling or sliding loose in the channel. This usually means the factory channel spacer has cracked from heat cycling. It’s not your kid’s basketball; it’s the plastic being out in 110-degree sun for enough summers to give up.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A freestanding soaking tub in a remodeled primary bathroom

For a straight Delta fence replacement in Los Angeles, you’re looking at $4,130 – $10,620 installed. The spread comes down to three things: linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re doing a gate. A simple 40-foot run with four posts lands on the lower end. A 100-foot run on uneven grade with two gates, old concrete to break out, and rotted posts that need new footings pushes toward the top.

Every installed price we give is written out before work starts. Parts and labor are broken out separately so you can see exactly what the Delta-compatible components cost and exactly what the labor is. No blank-line “installation fee” that mysteriously moves. If we quote $5,700, you pay $5,700 unless you ask us to add scope mid-job. And any work we install is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s an honest split. If your issue is a broken latch, a loose post cap, or a popped rail that seats back in cleanly, that’s probably something you can handle with a screwdriver and some patience. If your issue is a post that’s leaning, a gate that no longer meets the frame, or anything involving concrete footings in Los Angeles soil that ranges from decomposed granite to adobe clay depending on which side of the 405 you’re on, call us at (213) 632-5711 before you’re four hours into a weekend project holding a jackhammer you rented from a guy who asked zero questions.

Fence installation, honestly, is not in the dangerous-to-DIY category like high-tension garage springs or live electrical panels. But a bad post meets a bad concrete pour, and suddenly you’ve got a fence that fails in two years and cost you three weekends. We’d rather you call for a free estimate and then decide if it’s worth doing yourself.
