Jerith Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Jerith-compatible window and door parts across Los Angeles, with most hinge, latch, and lock replacements running $245 – $695 installed, while full door panel swaps typically land between $840 – $2,300 depending on the model and size. You’ll usually hear the problem before you see it: a door that’s started dragging on the threshold, a window that won’t stay open without a fight, or a latch that needs three tries before it catches. If you’ve got a Jerith product that’s suddenly behaving like it’s just met you, call us at (213) 632-5711 and we’ll match the part to your exact door or window.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith has been making residential doors and windows out of their Pennsylvania plant for decades, and over the years they’ve shipped several distinct hinge and latch systems. The most common confusion we see in Los Angeles is between early Jerith doors with exposed hinge barrels and the later concealed-hinge models built after 2012. The parts are not interchangeable, even on doors that look identical from the street. Before you order anything, open the door and look at the hinge knuckle (the round part where the two halves meet). If you can see a screw head staring back at you, it’s an exposed hinge assembly. If it’s smooth and tucked into the door edge, you need the concealed version.
For windows, the tell is in the corner hardware. Jerith’s crank-out casement windows use a specific operator arm length that changed with their Thermal Series around 2015. An older operator will not engage the newer sash bracket. Take a photo of the arm extended and measure from the center of the crank socket to the tip of the arm. That measurement, plus a photo of the window sticker if you still have it, lets us identify the part before we roll a truck. We install OEM Jerith parts when your warranty or the application calls for it, and quality aftermarket equivalents when they’re actually a better value. We’ll tell you which makes sense for your door and why.

Signs Your Jerith Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The door drags on the jamb side or won’t clear the threshold. Jerith doors are heavy, and the hinge assemblies carry that load every time the door opens. When the lower hinge starts to sag, the door drops a quarter inch and starts scraping. Left alone, it’ll chew up the weatherstripping and eventually the threshold itself.
- The latch doesn’t line up with the strike plate anymore. This is almost always hinge wear, not a latch problem. Misalignment is the door telling you the hardware is tired. A new latch set won’t fix a door that’s sagging; the hinge needs replacement first, then the latch.
- The window crank spins but the sash doesn’t move. The operator gear strips after years of Los Angeles sun baking the lubricant out of it. You’ll feel a sudden loss of resistance inside the crank. That’s the gear teeth skipping, and it’ll only get worse.
- The door closes too fast or slams shut on its own. Jerith screen and storm doors use a tension rod or cylinder at the top of the door. When that cylinder loses pressure, the door loses its controlled close. It’s annoying and it puts extra stress on the hinges and glass every time it slams.
- You notice rust or pitting around the hinge or lock hardware. In Los Angeles, marine air near the coast and irrigation overspray inland both do a number on plated hardware. Once the coating fails, the metal underneath starts to pit, and a pitted hinge pin binds up instead of pivoting smooth.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Jerith door hinge or latch replacement in Los Angeles, you’re typically looking at $245 – $695 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing a single hinge assembly or the full latch-and-strike package. Window operator and crank replacements run $290 – $720 installed. If the door panel itself has failed (cracked stile, failed glass, blown seal), a full Jerith-compatible panel swap runs $840 – $2,300 installed, with the spread driven by door size, glass package, and whether we’re color-matching the original.
Every quote includes the part, the labor to install it, adjustment and alignment so the door or window operates clean, and disposal of the old hardware. You get a written price before we start work, and a written guarantee covering our installation for 365 days from completion. If something isn’t right, we return and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: confirm the model sticker on the door edge, take photos of the hinge or crank from a couple angles, and measure the hinge length or operator arm. Those details help us quote accurately over the phone. Where we’d caution you is on removal. Jerith door hinges are under spring tension in several models, and releasing that tension without the right clamp sends the spring and the door in opposite directions, fast. Same for window operators, the arm sits behind the sash and forces removal from inside a narrow channel. That’s a knuckle-buster if you’re not already used to working in that space. If you’re unsure, call us at (213) 632-5711 and we’ll sort it out.
FAQs

The door frame and panel on a Jerith product will easily go 20-plus years in Los Angeles; the hardware is the shorter story. Hinges and latch hardware typically last 8 – 12 years under daily use before play starts to show up, and window operator gears fail sooner on the west side where salt air accelerates lubrication breakdown. Parts are replaceable, which is exactly why you don’t need to replace the whole door when a hinge gives out. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll price the part, not the whole panel.
Once a Jerith hinge barrel shows slack, tightening screws only buys you a few weeks. The wear is inside the knuckle, where the pin and the barrel have developed play. We can sometimes shim a barely-worn hinge, but if you’re hearing the door scrape, the assembly needs replacement. We’ll tell you honestly which side of the line your hinge is on. Call (213) 632-5711 and describe what you’re seeing, and we’ll give you a real assessment before you commit to anything.
Most single hinge or latch replacements take 45 minutes to an hour on site, including alignment and cycling the door a dozen times to confirm it closes true. A window operator swap typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. A full door panel replacement runs 2 to 3 hours including cleanup and haul-away. We tell you the window of time upfront when you book, and the technician’s name and photo arrive before the visit.
We stock the most common Jerith hinge assemblies, latch sets, and window operators on our trucks, along with the standard finish colors we see most in Los Angeles. Oddball sizes and color matches that sit outside the common range take 3 to 5 business days to source. When you call (213) 632-5711 with your model number and a measurement or two, we’ll tell you same-day or sourced before we schedule the visit.
