Why Los Angeles Homeowners Choose Jerith Construction

We provide Jerith repair in Los Angeles, including aluminum fence and gate repair, replacement, and new installation across the city. Our crews have rebuilt dozens of Jerith installations in this city, which means we know exactly how Jerith’s commercial-grade aluminum behaves after years of LA sun, hillside soil movement, and coastal salt air. We’re not a Jerith dealer or authorized service center – we’re a local contractor who has made a study of Jerith’s proprietary hardware so we can diagnose and fix failures other contractors miss. Call (213) 632-5711 for a written estimate before any work starts.

Jerith aluminum fencing is a smart choice for Los Angeles properties. The powder-coated aluminum resists rust, which matters in a city where irrigation overspray and coastal moisture test cheap steel fencing within a few seasons. But Jerith fences live or die on two things: how the posts were set and whether the installer used the right hardware. We see the consequences of shortcuts on both every week, from Mount Washington to Woodland Hills to the flats of the Valley.

As an independent Jerith service provider, we have no quota to sell you a new fence when a repair makes more sense. We stock the Jerith brackets, hinges, and latch components that keep a fence square and code-compliant. And because we work across Los Angeles County, including Jerith in Van Nuys and surrounding areas, we know which neighborhoods have expansive clay, which have decomposed granite, and which hillside lots need deeper footings than the manufacturer’s generic instructions suggest.

The short version: if you own a Jerith fence or gate in Los Angeles, we can service it correctly the first time. Written price before work starts. Written guarantee on every completed project, with terms stated plainly. A live person answers when you call, any hour, any day.

Why Trust Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles for Your Jerith Construction?

A remodeled primary suite with built-in wardrobes and a window seat

Jerith fences are not generic. The post-to-rail connectors are profile-specific, meaning a bracket that fits another aluminum fence brand will often cause rail rotation on a Jerith. The hinges are engineered for Jerith’s rail profile and post wall thickness. A contractor who treats Jerith like “just another aluminum fence” will leave you with a gate that sags again in eighteen months.

We know the difference because we have corrected the work of contractors who ignored it. Our technicians can identify a Jerith Residential, Commercial, Estate Series, or Pool Code fence from the rail profile and post cap, and they know which latch and hinge each line takes. We use genuine Jerith brackets, hinges, and latch components whenever they are available through our local suppliers. For footings and concrete work, we use high-strength local mixes suited to Los Angeles soil, because a Jerith post is only as stable as the concrete holding it.

Isaac Pruett, General Contractor and Owner at Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles, grew up in the San Fernando Valley and trained in construction technology at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College downtown. He spent the better part of two decades working residential and light commercial jobs across Los Angeles County before building Mason Remodeling Co. He runs every job with one philosophy: show up on time, keep the site clean, and never leave a homeowner guessing about what happens next. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s guaranteed – everything else is just noise.

Common Jerith Construction Problems We Fix in Los Angeles

Jerith builds a solid product. But Los Angeles is a hard place for any fence, and we see the same failure modes repeat across the city. Here are the five we fix most often:

  • Post wobble at grade from hillside soil creep. In foothill neighborhoods like Mount Washington and throughout the Verdugo and Santa Monica ranges, soil moves slowly downhill over time. That creeping pressure shears against fence posts, especially when the original footing was poured too shallow or too narrow. The result is a Jerith post that rocks visibly when you push it. The fix is not more concrete around the existing post – it is removing the post, drilling a proper footing to below the zone of seasonal moisture change, and resetting it in a high-strength mix. We use mixes suited to LA’s expansive and decomposed granite soils, and we never patch a structurally compromised post. We replace the post and footing for a permanent fix.
  • Gate sag at the hinge side on wide double-drive gates. Jerith Estate Series double-drive gates are heavy. When the original installer used undersized screws into hollow aluminum posts, the screw holes wallow out over a few seasons of daily use. The gate drops at the latch side, drags on the ground, and eventually won’t close. The proper fix involves a full-height internal stiffener inside the hinge-side post and new Jerith heavy-duty hinges mounted with through-bolts. We recently corrected exactly this failure on an Estate Series gate in Woodland Hills, where the original 1-inch screws had wallowed out completely. The gate now swings square and latches with one finger.
  • Powder-coat chalking and pitting on west-facing runs. Los Angeles afternoon sun is harsh, and near the coast, salt air compounds the problem. We see Jerith fences on west-facing exposures that start to chalk within five to seven years of installation – earlier in beach-adjacent neighborhoods like Playa del Rey or San Pedro. Chalking is the powder coat breaking down at the surface. If caught early, we can often preserve the fence with proper cleaning and protective treatment. If pitting has reached the aluminum, we recommend section replacement. Ignoring chalking only shortens the useful life of the entire run.
  • Self-closing hinge spring fatigue on pool-code fences. Jerith Pool Code Aluminum Fence relies on spring-loaded self-closing hinges to keep the gate latching automatically. Those springs fatigue with use and sun exposure. When one fails, the gate no longer closes by itself – and that fails LA County pool barrier inspection. We replace the hinge springs and verify the latch is code-compliant before we leave the property. If you have a pool fence, this is not a cosmetic repair. It is a safety and legal compliance issue.
  • Rail rotation from aftermarket brackets. Jerith’s post-to-rail connectors are profile-specific. When a previous repair used generic aluminum fence brackets, the rails twist under load. You will see the pickets leaning slightly, or the top rail rotating so the channel no longer seats correctly. The fix is removing the aftermarket hardware, straightening the rail, and installing genuine Jerith connectors. We keep a stock of these on our trucks because we see this often enough that it is not a surprise.

Jerith Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

A remodeled staircase with wood treads and a slim metal railing

We use genuine Jerith brackets, hinges, and latch components whenever they are available through our local suppliers. There is a reason for that. Jerith’s connectors are shaped to fit Jerith’s rail and post profiles exactly. Aftermarket copies are often “close enough” in the hand but wrong under load, which is how you end up with rotated rails and sagging gates six months after a repair. For post footings and concrete work, we do not use Jerith anything – we use high-strength local mixes that hold up to LA soil chemistry, because the concrete is ours to stand behind.

When it comes to repair versus replace, we look at three things. First, is the post structurally sound? If it is bent, cracked at the base, or corroded through, we replace it. Patching a compromised post is throwing your money into a hole. Second, is the rail still straight? A twisted rail will never seat properly in new connectors. Third, is the powder coat intact enough to justify saving the section? If the coating has failed to the point of widespread pitting, replacement is usually the better value over the next ten years. We will show you the numbers both ways and let you decide. Call (213) 632-5711 for an honest assessment and a written quote.

Our Jerith Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis at your property. We inspect the fence run, check post stability, measure gate clearances, and identify the Jerith line you have. We look at the soil conditions around the footings and the sun exposure on each run. You get a written diagnosis and a fixed price before any work starts.
  2. 2
Repair or installation. For repairs, we pull the affected Jerith components and replace them with genuine hardware. For new installations, we set posts in concrete matched to your soil conditions, not a generic bag mix. Depth matters on hillsides and in expansive clay zones, and we set footings accordingly.
  3. 3
Testing and adjustment. Gates get cycled repeatedly to verify the latch catches, the self-closing mechanism works if required, and the gate swings square without sag. We check every post for plumb before the concrete sets and after.
  4. 4
Written guarantee. Every completed project is covered by our written guarantee with clearly stated terms, including what is covered, what is excluded, and for how long. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies across our Jerith fence and gate work. If the work is not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you.
