Kohler Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
A full Kohler kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs between $16,520 and $53,100, depending on cabinet count, countertop material, and how much plumbing reconfiguration the job requires. We stock Kohler-compatible faucets, sinks, valve cartridges, and spray heads, and we can match most model lines the same day we visit. The way owners usually call us: a faucet drips no matter how hard you crank the handle, a pull-down spray head loses pressure and won’t retract, or a sink basin shows hairline cracks around the drain flange. That’s when a “simple part replacement” turns into a conversation about whether the whole fixture needs upgrading instead.
We’re an independent Los Angeles remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with Kohler, but we install and service their kitchen products every week, from Hancock Park bungalows to Sherman Oaks ranch houses. Isaac Pruett, our owner, trained in construction technology at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent two decades working residential and light commercial jobs across Los Angeles County, so he’s seen exactly how Kohler parts age in Southern California water conditions and what actually fixes them.
Which Kohler Models This Applies To

Kohler organizes kitchen fixtures by collection, not by a single universal part number. The faucet lines we work on most often in Los Angeles: Sous, Simplice, Bellera, Karbon, Crue, Purist, and Artifacts (the bridge-style, vintage look). Sinks come through the Ironridge, Whitehaven, Stages, and Vault series. The trick with Kohler: two faucets can look nearly identical but use different cartridges depending on whether the handles are single-lever or cross-handle, or whether the spray head is a magnetic dock versus a weight-and-ball retraction system.
To identify your part, start with the small tag looped around the cold-water supply line. Kohler prints a model number there. No tag? Pull the spray head out and look on the back face for a number starting with “K” or in the 1150000 series. If the tag is long gone, take a clear photo of the faucet and the underside of the sink; we can usually match the part from the picture in under two minutes. For replacement parts, we use genuine Kohler OEM whenever the model is current. Kohler’s warranty covers most mechanical parts for life to the original owner, but only when a licensed contractor or plumber installs them, and only when the part is genuine. Aftermarket cartridges and valves exist, and some are fine, but with Kohler specifically, the tolerances on the ceramic disc cartridges are tight enough that off-brand parts tend to wear out in two to three years instead of seven to ten. For anything involving the valve body inside the wall, we install OEM, no exceptions.

Signs Your Kohler Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Faucet drips after the handle is fully closed. The ceramic cartridge or its rubber seats have worn. This is the most common Kohler failure in Los Angeles because our water is moderately hard and mineral deposits slowly erode the cartridge seals.
- Spray head sputters or drops to a trickle. The aerator or the spray head’s internal check valve is clogged with sediment. In LA neighborhoods with older galvanized supply pipes, this can happen within two years of install.
- Spray head won’t retract or sags below the faucet neck. The counterweight on the hose has shifted or the magnetic docking ring has lost its grip. On Kohler Artifacts and Purist models, the magnet housing corrodes faster in coastal air, like Santa Monica or Marina del Rey homes.
- Water pressure drops only when using hot water. The supply line to the angle stop is kinked, or the cartridge’s hot-side inlet has mineral buildup. This is a diagnosis we get wrong at the counter a lot, because people assume it’s the water heater when it’s actually the fixture.
- Hairline crack in the sink basin near the drain or faucet deck. Kohler enameled cast iron is tough, but a dropping cast-iron pan will chip the enamel. Once the enamel is breached, the iron underneath starts rusting and the crack will grow. That’s a sink replacement, not a repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Most Kohler kitchen part replacements in Los Angeles land between $295 and $825 installed when it’s a cartridge, spray head, pull-down hose, or supply line swap. If the fixture itself needs replacing, the installed cost depends on whether we’re dealing with a faucet-only changeout or a full sink-and-faucet remodel. Full kitchen remodels with Kohler fixtures, counters, cabinetry, and backsplash run $16,520 to $53,100. A smaller job with new countertops and a Kohler sink plus faucet typically starts around $4,000 and can reach $12,000 with Cambria or Silestone surfaces.
What’s included in our pricing: the part itself, the labor for removal and install, disposal of the old part, and a written price before any of it happens. No verbal estimate that grows on the final bill. Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles has carried this policy since 2004, and we’ve never waived it. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the part or install fails within a year of completion, we return and make it right at no cost to the homeowner. If you’re pricing parts on your own, here’s what typical cost ranges look like:
- Kohler ceramic disc cartridge (Sous, Simplice, Bellera): $40 – $90 for the part
- Kohler pull-down spray head assembly: $55 – $140
- Kohler magnetic docking ring: $30 – $70
- Kohler faucet supply lines (pair): $25 – $60
- Full Kohler faucet replacement, mid-grade: $350 – $650 installed
- Kohler enameled cast iron sink replacement plus faucet: $1,200 – $3,200 installed
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before calling. Shut the water off under the sink (the angle stops are the small oval handles on the wall). Look under the faucet for loose connections. Remove the spray head and soak it in white vinegar for 30 minutes if the spray pattern is weak. That’s where DIY should stop. Cartridge replacement on Kohler single-handle faucets means removing the handle, the retaining ring, and the bonnet nut, and if that retainer nut is seized from hard water, a homeowner with pliers will crack the faucet body. At that point you’ve turned a $95 part swap into a $400 faucet replacement.
We’re not saying this to talk anyone out of a Saturday project. We’re saying it because we’ve been the second call after the weekend damage, and we’d rather be the first call. If the part is old enough to fail, the surrounding fittings are aging too. Call (213) 632-5711 and tell us what you’re seeing. We’ll give you a straight answer on the phone, a written price before we start, and the name and photo of the technician who’s coming before they ring your bell. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s guaranteed, everything else is just noise.
FAQs

A Kohler kitchen faucet in Los Angeles typically lasts 8 to 15 years, with the cartridge usually needing replacement around year 7 to 10 due to our moderately hard water wearing down the ceramic seals. Homes with a water softener on the supply side can stretch the cartridge life past 12 years. If your faucet is under 5 years old and failing, call (213) 632-5711; the part may be covered under Kohler’s warranty, and we can help process it.
Yes, and most Kohler kitchen faucets are designed to be repaired rather than replaced; the cartridge, spray head, and valves are all serviceable parts. The exception is if the faucet body itself is cracked or pitted from corrosion, at which point a replacement is the honest fix. Call (213) 632-5711 and describe the symptom; we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a repair or replacement, and what each will cost.
A cartridge, spray head, or supply line replacement typically takes our technician 45 to 90 minutes on a standard Los Angeles kitchen sink. A full faucet swap takes about two hours. If we’re replacing a sink or doing countertop work alongside it, the job is a full day or more depending on the scope. We’ll give you the time estimate in writing before we start.
We keep common Kohler cartridges, spray heads, hoses, docking rings, and supply line kits on our service vehicles, so many repairs are completed same-day in Los Angeles. If your model requires a less common part, we can usually source it from our Los Angeles suppliers within one to two business days. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll tell you right then whether it’s on the truck or needs ordering.
