KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
KraftMaid bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles typically runs between $10,620 and $33,040 installed, and most of the KraftMaid-specific failures we see come down to three things: cabinet door hinges that have stripped their mounting holes, drawer glides that won’t hold weight anymore, and vanity toe-kicks that swelled from years of bathroom humidity. We stock the common KraftMaid hardware on the truck and can usually match older series parts within a few days when the exact piece isn’t already in the box.
The way most homeowners discover a KraftMaid part has failed isn’t dramatic. A cabinet door starts sagging by an eighth of an inch. A drawer doesn’t close flush anymore. A vanity side panel starts showing that telltale bulging seam where moisture got underneath the finish. None of it is an emergency, but all of it sits there reminding you every morning that something in the bathroom is quietly falling apart. Two decades of Los Angeles residential work has shown us the same progression: oil-rubbed bronze hinge finishes corrode faster in humid bathroom air, particleboard core panels near a shower or sink absorb moisture and swell over the course of five to seven years, and soft-close mechanisms lose their damping action long before the hinge itself is structurally done. Some of it you can live with for a while. Most of it just keeps getting worse.
We’re an independent Los Angeles service and remodeling company, by the way. We’re not affiliated with KraftMaid or its parent companies. We install and replace KraftMaid cabinetry and bathroom components because we think it’s good cabinetry that’s worth maintaining, and because Los Angeles homeowners have been asking us to for the better part of two decades.
Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

KraftMaid cabinetry is built on a semi-custom system, which means there’s no single “model” to match. What matters is the series and the era it was built. Los Angeles homes we work in generally have one of three generations of KraftMaid: the Vantage and Venicia lines from the early and mid-2000s, the standard KraftMaid line built after the cabinetry division was acquired by Masco in the 1990s, or the newer KraftMaid and KraftMaid Vantage Pro lines from the last decade. The Venicia line is the one that causes the most confusion because it used a full-access frameless construction with metric-based hardware spacing, which doesn’t swap with anything from the standard framed line.
How you identify what you have without knowing the original paperwork: open a cabinet door and look at the hinge hardware. Standard KraftMaid doors from roughly 2005 forward almost always use a 35mm cup-style concealed hinge with a door mounting plate stamped with either “K” or “KL” in a small circle. Venicia doors use a wider 40mm hinge cup and the door thickness runs a full 7/8 inch rather than the 3/4 inch common on the standard line. Drawer boxes on the newer KraftMaid lines have the series name printed on a white sticker on the left-hand drawer side, usually partially hidden behind the drawer glide. The sticker is the most reliable identifier because finish names repeat across series, but the construction line never changes within a series.
On the OEM versus aftermarket decision: for hinges, drawer glides, and soft-close dampers, the OEM KraftMaid part is worth the extra cost because the mounting geometry is consistent. Aftermarket concealed hinges fit the 35mm cup, but the overlay distance (the amount the door overlaps the cabinet frame) varies by 2 to 4 millimeters between manufacturers, and that tiny difference is why a “universal” hinge leaves a door hanging crooked. For finish-matched vanity panels, toe-kicks, and decorative hardware, quality aftermarket equivalents are fine and often arrive faster. KraftMaid has changed its finish naming over the years too, which is why a “Honey Spice” cabinet built in 2003 doesn’t quite match the “Honey Spice” touch-up kit sold today. We tell Los Angeles clients up front when a repair will be a visual match and when it will be close-but-not-perfect. Better to know before the work starts than to notice the difference under bathroom lighting after it’s done.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Sagged door with visible mounting hole damage. The hinge screws have stripped out of the particleboard door or face frame. This is the single most common KraftMaid bathroom failure we repair in Los Angeles, and it happens faster in bathrooms because daily humidity cycles make the particleboard core softer and more prone to screw pullout.
- Drawer that sticks, grinds, or drops on one side. The drawer glide has lost its ball bearing cage or the mounting clip has snapped. KraftMaid’s under-mount glides from the mid-2000s use a plastic mounting clip at the rear of the drawer box that becomes brittle with age and bathroom heat.
- Soft-close door that suddenly slams. The small hydraulic damper inside the hinge cup has leaked its damping fluid. Once one goes, the others on the same vanity usually follow within a year because they were manufactured and installed at the same time under the same conditions.
- Vanity base panel or toe-kick swelling at the bottom edge. Water has wicked into the particleboard core, usually from floor-level moisture near the shower or from repeated mopping over the years. The swelling is permanent once it starts; sanding and refinishing won’t fix the expansion of the core material itself.
- Finish lifting or cloudy white blotches on the cabinet face. Moisture has worked its way under the catalyzed varnish finish. In Los Angeles bathrooms this is most common on vanities without adequate ventilation and on doors close to the shower. Early-stage clouding can sometimes be polished out; once the finish has physically lifted, the panel needs replacement or professional refinishing.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For KraftMaid bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles, expect to pay somewhere between $10,620 and $33,040 depending on bathroom size, fixture movement, and the condition of what’s underneath the old finishes. A powder room refresh lands at the low end of that range. A full primary bathroom with a walk-in shower, a double vanity, new flooring, and a relocated toilet or shower drain is where the $25,000 to $33,000 numbers come from. Anything involving moving a drain line, opening a shower pan, or correcting water damage hidden inside the wall adds cost fast, and it’s the kind of work where the written price you got on day one should be the price you pay at the end. Ours is.
The difference between a $12,000 bathroom remodel and a $28,000 one is almost never the KraftMaid cabinetry itself. It’s the scope: whether you’re keeping the existing shower and floor tile or tearing both out to the studs, whether the vanity footprint stays the same or you’re reconfiguring the plumbing, whether the room needs electrical updates to meet current Los Angeles code for GFCI placement and bathroom lighting. Cabinetry is usually 20 to 30 percent of the total project cost. The rest is tile, plumbing, waterproofing, glass, and labor.
Every project we price includes the demo and disposal, the build, the finish work, and a written guarantee that covers materials and workmanship for 365 days from the completion date. If something isn’t right within that year, we come back and fix it at no cost to you. You also get a second visit at no charge if a repair or installation fails, with no dispute process and no conditions attached. The written price you approve before we start is the price you pay. No change orders appear out of nowhere because we misjudged something during the estimate.

Some KraftMaid bathroom fixes are genuinely doable for a careful homeowner. Replacing a soft-close damper insert, swapping a drawer glide that hasn’t damaged the drawer box, and adjusting the three-screw hinge alignment are all reasonable weekend jobs if you have the right part in hand. Replacing a broken hinge where the screw holes have stripped is where DIY goes sideways: the repair needs an epoxy or threaded-insert fix that has to cure properly or the hinge will sag again within weeks, and the drilling tolerances are tighter than most homeowners expect.
Anything involving a vanity replacement or a full bathroom remodel is not a weekend job. KraftMaid bathroom cabinetry connects to plumbing, waterproofing, electrical, and tile work. The cabinet might be the thing you’re looking at, but the critical work is what’s behind and beneath it. Failed waterproofing behind a shower wall or under a vanity is how a $1,500 cabinet fix turns into a $15,000 water damage bill three years later. If you’re uncertain, call us at (213) 632-5711. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a part replacement or a real problem, and either way you’ll have a straight answer.
FAQs

In a typical Los Angeles bathroom with normal humidity and average use, KraftMaid cabinetry lasts 15 to 25 years before the boxes themselves fail; what fails first are the moving parts, hinges and drawer glides, which usually need replacement at the 8 to 12 year mark. Bathrooms without adequate ventilation shorten both timelines by several years because moisture accelerates particleboard breakdown and hinge corrosion. Call (213) 632-5711 for an honest assessment of what’s failing in your bathroom before you assume the whole vanity needs to go.
Yes, most KraftMaid vanity issues can be repaired if the cabinet box itself is still solid and the failure is in the hardware, the finish, or a single panel. We regularly replace hinges, drawer glides, soft-close dampers, and individual door or drawer fronts on KraftMaid cabinetry in Los Angeles without tearing out the entire vanity. The exception is water damage, which changes things, and we’ll tell you that before we start.
A typical KraftMaid bathroom remodel in Los Angeles takes between 3 and 6 weeks depending on the scope, with powder rooms on the shorter end and full primary bathrooms with tile showers on the longer end. We schedule every trade in order and keep the material deliveries timed to the work, so you won’t be waiting on cabinets to arrive while the rest of the bathroom sits half-finished. Call (213) 632-5711 to get a written timeline with your estimate, so you know exactly what to expect before the first day of work.
We carry the most commonly replaced KraftMaid parts on the truck: concealed hinges, drawer glides, soft-close damper inserts, and finish touch-up kits for the most common KraftMaid finishes in the Los Angeles market, plus a stock of Cambria, Silestone, and Kohler hardware that we install alongside KraftMaid cabinetry. Less common items get ordered directly and usually arrive within a few business days.
You can purchase KraftMaid parts through authorized retailers, but you’ll pay retail pricing and you’ll own the risk if the part doesn’t match your series or the finish isn’t what you expected. When we supply the parts, we’re responsible for matching them correctly, and if a part fails during your first year after installation, our 365-day guarantee covers both the part and the labor to replace it. If you supply your own part and it fails, you’re paying for labor again. Call (213) 632-5711 and we’ll price it both ways so you can compare.
