Owens Corning Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Owens Corning fence installation in Los Angeles typically costs $4,130 – $10,620 for a complete build with materials and labor, depending on linear footage, terrain, and gate count. Most jobs run three to five working days once materials land. If you’re staring at a sagging panel, a gate that scrapes concrete, or posts that twist like they’ve been through an argument, you’re probably not imagining it. Owens Corning composite fence systems fail differently than wood, and Los Angeles sun is the quiet culprit more often than people expect.

We’re Mason Remodeling Co Los Angeles. We install and repair Owens Corning fence systems across the city, and we carry the common components on our trucks so we’re not making you wait on a distribution order. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Owens Corning, but we know their product line well enough to match parts the first time.

What we’ll cover: which Owens Corning models this applies to, the exact symptoms that mean real trouble, what a replacement costs in Los Angeles, and when it’s safe to handle yourself versus when you need a crew with the right tools.

Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

Owens Corning doesn’t sell fence kits under their own brand name the way they do shingles. What homeowners usually have is a fence built with Owens Corning composite or vinyl rails and pickets, often paired with aluminum reinforcement, from their fence and deck board lines. The boards in play are typically from the Deckorators composite line (which Owens Corning acquired and folded into their building-materials portfolio) or the older WeatherBest composite boards that were discontinued and remain on thousands of LA properties. WeatherBest is the compatibility gotcha: the profile dimensions changed when Deckorators took over manufacturing, so a WeatherBest board and a current Deckorators board won’t lock into the same rail channel without a shim or adapter, which we stock.

Before you replace anything, look at the bottom lip of an existing rail or the backside of a picket for a molded code, usually a date stamp and a series letter. If you can’t find one, measure the board width in millimeters: 140mm and 150mm are the two widths that matter. WeatherBest runs 140mm; most current Deckorators fencing runs 150mm. Mixing them is how you end up with gaps that show the rail from the neighbor’s side.

For most Los Angeles homes, the right call is OEM Deckorators rail and post hardware with aftermarket or OEM composite pickets, depending on color match. OEM is worth the premium on posts: knockoff post sleeves tend to warp faster in direct Claremont or Woodland Hills sun. We’ll tell you before we order if aftermarket saves you money without cutting lifespan.

Signs Your Owens Corning Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Panels bowing outward between posts. Composite expands and contracts more than wood. In neighborhoods that swing 85°F in a day, like the Valley, cheap rail brackets give up after four or five summers. The rail pulls away from the post, and the panel belly follows.
  • Gate drags or won’t latch. This is almost always the hinge side post walking out of level, not the gate itself. The composite is fine. The post base, if it was set in a shallow concrete collar, has eaten itself loose in the clay soil that dominates east-side LA yards.
  • Fading and chalky film. Sun damage doesn’t fail a fence structurally, but it’s a reliable tell that the board’s protective cap layer is degrading. Once the cap goes, moisture hits the wood-fiber core, and that’s when extrusion cracks start.
  • Vertical cracks at board ends. This is the core failing, not the cap. Los Angeles hillside homes get the worst of it because slope fences carry wind load at the board ends, and composite doesn’t flex with it.
  • Wobbly posts that twist on the base. An installer who set posts in undersized holes or used the wrong bracket is the culprit. In canyon areas, you can feel a post move just by pressing the top with one hand. That post isn’t doing its job.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled living room with built-in shelves around the fireplace

Here’s the real Los Angeles market range, parts and labor together, for replacement work on an Owens Corning or compatible composite fence:

  • Full fence build, standard 6-foot height: $4,130 – $10,620 depending on footage and gate count
  • Single section replacement (one panel, two posts): $620 – $1,450
  • Gate rebuild with new composite frame: $480 – $1,150 per gate
  • Post reset only: $280 – $620 per post
  • Whole fence removal and haul-off: $390 – $920

The big variables are access, slope, and how much concrete the old posts are buried in. Los Angeles lots in the hills push labor higher because crews are hauling materials by hand. Flat city lots in Mid-City or Leimert Park come in at the lower end. You get a written line-item price from us before any work begins, which is our standard on every project. The work itself is covered by our written guarantee for 365 days from completion. If something we installed fails in that year, we return and fix it free, no dispute process.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself without touching a power tool: walk the fence line and press each post at hip height to find movement, look for gaps between rail and post, and test each gate through a full swing. That tells you what to show us when we visit. What you shouldn’t try alone is pulling a post, because a composite post in Los Angeles clay can be in concrete three feet deep, and once it’s out of the ground, the panel it supported is a lever with your fence’s weight behind it. A panel that drops on the wrong angle will crack the rail channel, and now you’ve turned a $400 post reset into a $900 panel replacement.

If it’s a loose gate latch or a small rail bracket, fine. If it involves concrete, slope, or lifted panels, call (213) 632-5711. We’ll send someone who knows exactly what they’re looking at, and the estimate doesn’t cost you anything.
